gift ideas for the shoe lover

What woman doesn't love shoes? If you know of one, send her my way so I can slap some sense in her because shoes, in one word, are AMAZING! They can be that kick of personality and power that you need for that simple outfit you have storing away in your closet or they can even boost your confidence!

All the women in my immediate family love shoes and probably have enough to wear one pair a day for 60 days without wearing a single pair more than once. My mom however has about 5,000,000 pairs it seems like - her collection could probably compete with the late Princess Diana's collection. Seriously, I am not even joking.

Anyway, I have so many wonderful women who are close to me that love shoes and are the inspiration behind this post. I hope you love what I have found! Also, you can click on the description to be linked to their website.

Here are some of the photographs that were taken throughout the pageant by Robert West, the official photographer. I am so happy that he was able to be there to capture these and I cannot wait to see the rest of them as well! Enjoy, laugh and poke fun, please! I welcome it! :)

{fashion friday}

For this month on {ff}, I am going to do a little series called {Perfect Party Dresses}. The title is pretty self explanatory, but the posts will feature either a look or several different dresses that are perfect for Christmas parties or other social gatherings in the Christmas season.

This week I wanted to focus on one of the main Christmas colors - red. I love red. I think it looks good on just about anyone {with the exception of red heads}. There are so many different shades and rich hues of the color that you can choose from! Another great thing about all of the dresses shown below is that they are all under $33 (so budget friendly) and they can be found in your local Forever 21 store! Enjoy!

gift ideas for the neat freak

Every year for Christmas, my siblings and I draw names for Christmas; the name we draw is the person we will buy gifts for. This year I drew my sister, Angelia.

Angelia is quite the neat freak and loves everything to be in its own place - and stay there. If you were to ever walk into her house, you would think you were walking into a magazine spread of Southern Living. She is a little OCD about things too which actually tends to be quite humorous and we love her for it!

She is the inspiration behind this post! If you know any neat freak, I am sure he or she would love any of these gifts:

These fun gifts are from Ikea and are all under $30!

another year, another chance at becoming miss america

I can remember many years ago as a little girl putting on my Sunday Best and sitting right in front of the television for one special telecast every year. That telecast was the Miss America Pageant. I always dreamed of being a pageant queen when I was little, never knowing that it would eventually happen. At the age of 12, I was able to compete in my very first pageant which was a fundraiser for the Florida Special Olympics. After capturing my first title, I was hooked and continued to compete.

To this day, I still have that desire to become Miss America and have been working toward that dream over the past 10 years. I am a firm believer in the Miss America Organization and all that it has to offer for young women in today's society. I owe so much to this organization - my education, ambition, wonderful friendships, confidence, opportunities and so much more.

This year will most likely be my last year that I will be able to compete in Miss America Pageants and I hope to make it a successful one! This weekend, I will be competing in the Miss Arlington, Miss Alexandria and Miss Hanover Pageant, so wish me the best!

the big apple & football

http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-images/Books/Pix/pictures/2008/02/15/apple460.jpg

Tomorrow morning I will be leaving good ole Lynchburg to head to the big apple! I am so excited!!! I haven't been in nearly 6 years which was when I sang at Carnegie Hall as a sophomore in high school; let's just say, it has been to too long! I am even more excited to be able to go with a close friend, Christine! It is her first time going to the city, so she is stoked because she loves fashion and shopping (sounds familiar, eh?).

On top of two days in the city, Joshua will be playing in his last scheduled college football game. It is a bittersweet situation for him and me, obviously more for him. I am so proud of him and all that he has accomplished over the years - I'm quite the proud girlfriend! :) I will post about the trip and include a few photos too!

I am going to New York City in a few weeks (squeal) and I am so excited! One of the main things on my mind about the trip is the shopping that I will be able to do, so for this {ff} I wanted to create the perfect City Shopping Look. I think this look is classy {pearls & blouse}, comfortable {flats} and fun {animal print} all at once!
